Snow Got You Down? Warm Up With A Nice Cup Of Hot Chocolate!

Back to feed
The snowpocalypse is upon us, and you know what always sounds good on a cold day? Warming up with a delicious cup of hot chocolate! But this is Jungle Jim’s, and a simple packet of cocoa isn’t good enough for us. As you know, we like to kick things up a notch and explore outside things that are a little outside of the box.

So how does Jungle Jim’s do hot chocolate? We’re glad you asked.

Start with 8-10oz of milk or more if you’re making some for friends or family in a saucepan. If you want to put a spin on it try coconut or almond milk.

For the base chocolate you can start with real cocoa powder or melting actual chocolate, which is our preferred method. Jungle Jim’s offers countless cocoa mixes and even more varieties of chocolate. You can grab milk or dark chocolate infused with peppermint, caramel, maple, peppers, toffee and more. Your cocoa selection is only your first step in creating the perfect cup of hot chocolate.

Once you have your base of milk and chocolate, it’s time to build upon that foundation and start adding some delicious additions into the mix. We like to think of this as harmonizing…

You could go the Mexican hot chocolate route and add cinnamon, cayenne pepper and brown sugar – just make sure you use fresh brown sugar so it doesn’t get clumpy. Once your mug is mixed and ready to serve, put some whipped cream on top and sprinkle on some red pepper flakes.
Have you ever tried maple hot chocolate? It’s to die for! Especially in almond or pecan milk. It just happens that Jungle Jim’s has a huge selection of syrups to choose from. Go for a simple maple syrup or dive into some unique varieties like our Apple Cinnamon or Toasted Pecan syrups. Add some cinnamon or a pinch of cayenne to spice it up a bit. We even have maple syrup already infused with habaneros if you’re looking to add that extra little kick.
Chocolate and peanut butter is a match made in heaven, so peanut butter hot chocolate has to be good right? Yes. Yes it is. Add some creamy peanut butter and whipped cream to your chocolate as you heat it all up. If you want to get fancy, drizzle some chocolate syrup or toast some marshmallows to top it off.
You know those chocolate oranges that come out around the holidays? They also translate into amazing hot chocolate. Choose some dark chocolate or cocoa mix and sprinkle some orange zest into your saucepan. Squeeze a slice of a fresh orange into it as well for a delicious and citrusy variation.
Of course you can’t forget your garnish and a snack to go with your chocolaty creation. Pocky and other chocolate candy sticks are great for dipping. You can never go wrong with some toasted marshmallows as well. And don’t forget to check out the selection of cookies and tea biscuits in the English aisle for some sweet treats to pair with everything.

Cuddle up to a warm delectable cup of hot chocolate today and be sure to let us know what your favorite is!
