Emilia-Romagna.  Nestled in along Italy’s Adriatic coastline, just south of the Tre Venezie, is one of the most prosperous regions in all of Europe.  The capital is Bologna, and the region is the birthplace of Bolognese cuisine.  Car companies like Ferrari and Lamborghini reside here, and of course, like all regions throughout Italy, there is wine.

Most notably, Emilia-Romagna is known for Lambrusco, yet it is also renowned for their own spin on the Sangiovese grape, the white grape Albana di Romagna, more common Western grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, and native grapes such as Pagadebit (white), Ortruga (white), Cagnina (red) and Fortuna (usually kept for sparkling wine production).  A little pasta Bolognese, some Prosciutto di Parma, and you’re on your way to a vacation to Emilia-Romagna, via your taste buds.

A few of the wines we have here in the store will help you on your way:

Fiorini “Becco Rosso” Lambrusco Grasparossa NV.  80% Grasparossa and 20% Lancellotta, this shows off juicy red fruits, minerality and balanced acidity for a slightly off-dry, fizzy red.

Fiorini “Corte Attimi” Lambrusco di Sorbara Rosé NV.  100% Lambrusco di Sorbara, with a profile of light red cherry and red currant fruit, hints of spice and violets in the nose, lively and dry across the palate.
