Recently an old friend popped into the store. Megan de Zendegui, who I’ve known for years, dropped in on the wine nerds here at Jungle Jim’s Eastgate, she in a new capacity, representing a different lineup of wines, something not so far away, something a bit more domestic – Frank Family Vineyards from Napa Valley. Riding with our Tramonte & Sons rep Tommy, it was a great way to reconnect with Megan and with Frank Family, wines that I don’t have a chance to try too often.
Frank Family Chardonnay Carneros 2014. Balanced, with just the right amount of oak nuances to buoy the orchard fruit, hints of tangerine, white spices, caramel and custard. It’s a pretty full-bodied Chardonnay you will love.
Frank Family Chardonnay Reserve Lewis Vineyard 2014. Full-bodied, voluptuous Chardonnay that is rich in caramel, toffee, vanilla, lemon and baked apple notes. Almost hedonistic in mouthfeel, it’s sexy, smooth, and generous from start-to-finish.
Frank Family Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2013. With 13% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, this bold, full-bodied red gives you dark blue and black fruit, velvety tannins, dense mocha, espresso and tobacco notes and a long, lingering finish.
Frank Family Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Rutherford 2013. 93% Cab with the remainder of the blend Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, this is a powerful red, filled up with black fruits, chocolate and cedar notes, delivering a deeply-concentrated presence across the palate.
Frank Family Red Wine Winston Hill Rutherford 2013. Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and finished out with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, this decadent red is full-bodied, loaded for bear with is dense, thick notes of blackberry, cigar box, sage, mint and dark roasted coffee. It’s the kick-ass-blaster of Napa reds.
