Jungle Jim’s International Market prides ourselves on bringing you the best variety of food from all over the globe, right here in your backyard. And what better food to indulge yourself with than some international snacks? Every single aisle in our International Department is filled to the brim with fun snacks from around the world (and of course other food as well), and we think it’s an adventure exploring them all. So let’s dive into our first two selections, shall we?
Calbee Shrimp Snacks – Japan
Calbee has been in business since 1949 and have been in the US since 1970. They make a variety of chips, crackers and other potato snacks. Their Shrimp Snacks are easily their most popular product. A baked wheat snack with shrimp flavoring, they’re moderately spicy, but flavorful, and are similar to Andy Capps, which are found here in the States. |
Did you know: Japan has impeccable food safety and cleanliness standards so it is safe to buy food anywhere. Want to grab that late night snack at the gas station? Go ahead!
Universal Robina Corporation got its start in 1954 in the Philippines when founder John Gokongwei decided that instead of importing outside snacks from other countries that he should start making his own. Today they produce chips, biscuits, candy and even drinks. Roller Coasters are potato rings that come in cheese and other flavors. They are similar to and may remind you of Funyuns. |
Did you know: Food and culture are virtually indistinguishable in the Philippines, where the average person eats five meals daily.
