Recently Todd and I had a chance to check out the newest releases from Valkyrie Selections – the importing venture by the producers of California’s Banshee and Rickshaw wines. Vintner Select wine mavens Danielle Redder and Lauren Wiethe dropped in to try us on some of their Spanish wines:
Mercat Brut Nature NV. Bright, crisp, dry style Cava. A blend of Macabeo, Paralleda and Xarel-lo. Tart with hints of green apple skin, Bartlett pear and mineral.
Azul y Garanza Viura 2015 (liter). Lemon, lime and mineral notes in this 100% Organic wine.
Godeval Godello 2015. Fans of Jorge Ordonez Selections may remember this little gem. A beautiful white wine, with herbaceous characters tethered by lemon curd and apricot notes.
Azul y Garanza Tempranillo 2015 (liter). Woodsy notes of strawberry and cherry mix it up with mineral and pepper. 100% Organic. A great value for the summer.
Lechuza Garnacha 2015. Anise, cherry and dark berry fruits within a construct of bright mineral and vibrant acidity.
Altamente Monastrell 2015. Plum, cherry and raspberry notes with touches of peppercorn, cedar and tobacco smoke. 100% Organic.
