Take a trip with me for a moment. It’s a little ways across the pond. We’ve packed our bags, loaded up the car, arrived at the airport, under labored breath as we run through the terminal – that security line took way too long – and as we stumble up to our gate, sweaty and panting, we board our plane and we’re up-up-and-away.
A faraway destination planned, we can’t even sit still in our seats. Like the song goes, “the waiting is the hardest part.” Indeed.
Upon arrival, the baggage claims, the taxi ride, the dash to the hotel – we cannot wait to get there, our ultimate destination. And once we get there, and stand at the edge of the vineyard, the sun high above us, a cool breeze in our faces and the sounds of the insects, the birds and the stillness – it’s time for a glass of wine.
This is the feeling we get when we talk wine with our customers, when we are holding court at the bar leading tastings, trying out the new wines with our sales reps – it’s what we live for in this business everyday. So whether it’s an inexpensive red to go with pizza on a Saturday night, or a legendary bottle for a good friend’s cellar, wine is the catalyst to a journey of never-ending scope, a transportative device that carries you away, heart and soul, a poem, a song, a vision of better days. Wine is fuel for the spirit, the lifestyle accoutrement that elevates, illuminates, evolves.
