Remember when I said this business is a small world?  Dear friend and traveller Jen Petrey, who ventured out to California a few years back, dropped in as the new McNab Ridge rep for this neck of the woods.  I’ve known Jen for a long time, and it was cool to see she had landed at such a great place.

For a bit of history, winemaker John Parducci purchased McNab Ridge Winery in 1999, and John’s grandson, Rich, joined up with his grandpa for that harvest, and continues to this day as winemaker and patriarch of a rich tradition of family winemaking that shines through in each and every bottle.  We’ve always been fans of these wines, and it was great to taste these with old friends.

McNab Ridge Sauvignon Blanc Mendocino County 2016.  I’ve not had many Sauvignon Blancs from Mendocino, but this hit all the right notes with its crisp notes of lemon zest, grapefruit and guava, finishing up with hints of thyme, mineral and kumquat.
McNab Ridge French Colombard Mendocino County 2016.  Definitely one of my favorite white wines, this slight homage to the Gascony region gives you light, bright citrus notes with hints of wet stones and white flowers.
McNab Ridge Pinotage The Napoli Vineyard 2014.  So here is something that will completely upend your notion of Pinotage.  This is absolutely nothing like anything from South Africa (where it was created and is the nation’s signature grape).  This particular example has more in common with a cru Beaujolais than its South African brethren.  Bright cherry fruit, rose petal, white spices and hints of strawberry pie, this is a delicious, light-bodied wine for anyone to enjoy.
McNab Ridge Merlot Mendocino County 2013.  A bold, full-bodied Merlot, with black and red fruits, a touch of turned earth, cocoa, cedar and tobacco.
McNab Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon Largo 2014.  A single-vineyard Cab that is rich, dense, full-bodied with blackberry, black currant, dark chocolate, espresso, cedar and crushed violets.  Intense finish.
McNab Ridge Petite Sirah Mendocino County 2014.  A real teeth-stainer, this monster is dark and brooding with hints of fresh-baked blackberry pie, blueberry compote, Oolong tea, roasted figs, dark spices and chewy tannins. ​
