Coffee has been around since the 9th or 10th century and is now the second most traded commodity in the world, just behind oil. The worldwide production of coffee is at 8.9 million tonnes a year with Brazil, Vietnam, and Indonesia being the top three producers. Even though there are only two types of coffee beans, Arabica and Robusta, each region and roasting technique brings out different, complex flavors. Cafe Yaucono has been in business since 1896 and has become one of the most trusted brands in Puerto Rico. This is a medium roast coffee that is strong in flavor, with notes of chocolate. |
Did you know: Coffee is actually a fruit. Coffee beans as we know them are actually the pits of a cherry-like berry that are grown on bushes. Even though coffee is actually a seed, it’s called a bean because of its resemblance to actual beans.

Cafe Santo Domingo is a family run company that has been around for 70 years and commands 95% of the entire coffee market on the island. We have selected a bold coffee that features an acidic, nutty taste that is sure to please. |
Did you know: According to legend, coffee was discovered in the 9th century when an Ethiopian goat herder named Khaldi noticed that his normally lethargic goats were more excitable after they had nibbled the red berries from an evergreen tree. Khaldi took the berries to a Muslim holy man, who turned the raw fruit of the coffee tree into the delicious beverage.
