Undergoing something of a transformation with some replanting, Gamble Family Vineyards is the brainchild of Tom Gamble, a Napa native who proclaims himself a “farmer first.”  Indeed it seems only obvious that a winery is only as good as the vineyard or vineyards that supply it, and Tom Gamble wears this notion proudly on his sleeve.

We were able to taste four of the wineries latest offerings:

Gamble Family Sauvignon Blanc 2015.  Pretty rich and creamy style of Sauvignon Blanc, with more lemon meringue going on here, and lots of tropical fruit character too.

Gamble Family Reb Blend Heritage Sites 2013.  Zinfandel, Charbono, Syrah and Petite Sirah.  Jammy and juicy style of red in the vein of The Prisoner, this medium-to-full-bodied number is a terrific wine to change up your humdrum routine.

Gamble Family Red Paramount 2013.  Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.  A bold, Meritage-style red blend, full-bodied and dense with dark fruits, mocha, tobacco and cedar characteristics.

Gamble Family Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2013.  Blended with 5% Merlot, this is a rich, powerful Napa Cabernet with black currant, fig, cedar and roasted walnut nuances, hints of black fruits and dark chocolate at the finish.
