In another lifetime, in a galaxy far, far away, I used to write a wine blog called, “Under The Grape Tree.”  This overt outlet for all my writing urges was a blog I maintained from 2008 until 2014, rather religiously, averaging something like 300 posts a year.  Most of the entries were brief due to my short-attention span and desperate need to create something, anything, and it had this sort-of weird following that never ceased to surprise me.  I even had a once-and-former employer who had pretty much memorized it, and recited bits of it back to me during my interview with him.

But like most things in life, it all must come to an end, and UTGT died a quiet death at the hands of hackers, and I finally pulled the plug to prevent unwarranted Cialis ads from infiltrating my readers’ hard drives.

The funny thing about that ol’ blog, named for a poem I had published years before, is that the spirit of this thing has never really died.

On one of those random Google searches for something related to UTGT, I stumbled onto a sales sheet for Talbott Vineyards wines from California, with ratings by – my and Under The Grape Tree.

Kinda surreal for somebody like me, because let’s face it, I’m no Joe Roberts (1 Wine Dude), one of the wine bloggers out around the time I was “in the game” who rose to the stop and is still doing great.  I always thought of myself as a regional blogger, who got into the blogosphere when several local peers were doing it – they were all responsible for me Social Media addictions today.

These days with the Jungle Jim’s Wine Blog I am not so much in it for ego’s sake, but simply to pass on a bit of the information swimming around in this murky little mind of mine.  I guess it’s just a little cool that my former wares haven’t been completely forgotten.
