Discoveries at the Jungle Cookie Month: Lotte Koala’s March Cookies from Japan and Loacker Quadratini Wafer Cookies from Austria

Back to feed
Cookies, crisps, biscuits, wafers, buns, etc. Depending on what part of the world you reside, these are all the same thing. Different countries and cultures have their own cookie styles, but all we know is they are all delicious. This month we are taking you on a cookie journey around the globe to show you the best that the world has to offer!

Cookie-like wafers have existed for as long as baking has been documented, because they are great for bringing along while traveling. But those wafers were not usually sweet and not really a “cookie” as we would classify it today. Once sugar become a little more common, around the 7th century, people started combining it with “travel cakes” we mentioned to make them sweeter and more desirable. Cookies as we know it – cream, butter and sugar cookies – didn’t really come into existence until around the 18th century.

Lotte Koala’s March Cookies from Japan

These sweet treats from Japan are like cream filled animal crackers. They are already super popular at Jungle Jim’s, and for a good reason. Not only are they delicious, but Lotte uses some of the profits from these cookies to help out the Australian Koala Foundation, an organization dedicated to saving Koalas, which are a threatened species.

The cookie monster never touched a cookie. The grease and chocolate was bad for the puppet and therefore only gobbled on rice crackers instead.

Loacker Quadratini Wafer Cookies from Austria
These wafer cookies feature four heavenly layers of cookies and filling. As you bite into them the flavors just explode in your mouth. You can find dark chocolate, hazelnut, lemon, cappuccino and more fantastic flavors. Although they are made in Austria, they are actually Italy’s top selling cookie. They are also made with all natural ingredients, no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, hydrogenated fats or bio engineered crops.
