Did you know? Herbal teas are not actually teas because they do not contain leaves from the plant Camellia Sinensis. Instead, they are infusions made from the roots, leaves, flowers or seeds from various other plants.
Maeda-En Matcha Green Tea – Hiroshi Maeda first brought his tea over to the US in 1984, and has been innovating tea products ever since. Their green tea powder is one of their most popular offerings because it is known to increase energy and overall health – it’s full of antioxidants and nutrients. Maeda-En also sells a variety of tea infused ice creams.
Matcha requires some special preparation and tools to brew. Check out this fun video explaining the process.
Did you know? Matcha is used in Japanese tea ceremonies. It takes years of practice and training with masters in order to be certified to perform a tea ceremony.
Butterfly Jasmine Dragon Pearl Tea – These leaves are hand rolled and dried before they are scented with jasmine blossoms. When you steep it, we recommend you use a clear glass kettle so you can watch the leaves unravel! Jasmine tea helps boost your immune system, reduces cholesterol and blood pressure (which leads to a reduced risk of heart attacks) and also helps with chronic pain.
To steep jasmine pearl tea, you simply measure out several balls and watch the pearls unravel as they brews. This video will show you exactly how it’s done.
Did you know? The name for when tea leaves uncurl when hot water is poured over them is called “the agony of the leaves.”
These are only a few of the thousands of teas that we carry here at Jungle Jim’s International Market. What are some of your favorites?
