Discoveries at the Jungle: Bewley’s Original Blend and Loyd Citrus Tea

Back to feed
Tea has an ancient and rich history that spans from the 3rd century AD and reaches across the globe. Tea originated in China, but it has traveled and morphed across borders since it’s beginnings. There are a plethora of teas available today, from all corners of the world, and Jungle Jim’s International Market carries an increasingly wide variety from all over. So let’s take a little time this month to talk about tea from all over the world that we offer right here in your own backyard!

Did you know? There are an estimated 3,000 different varieties of tea.

Today is the final edition of our Discoveries at the Jungle Tea Month! Our final choices for the month are Bewley’s Original Blend Tea from Ireland and Loyd Citrus Tea from Poland.

Bewley’s Original Blend Tea – In 1835, Samuel Bewley and his son Charles imported over 2,000 chests of tea directly from China to Dublin. They were the first to break the East India Tea Company’s crushing monopoly – thus Bewley’s was born. This tea is an original blend of teas from Kenya, Rwanda, Assam and India to create a strong, refreshing Irish blend.

This is their citrus black tea, made from a blend of leaves from India and Indonesia, which are enriched with orange and lemon flavors.
