​Tea has an ancient and rich history that spans from the 3rd century AD and reaches across the globe. Tea originated in China, but it has traveled and morphed across borders since it’s beginnings. There are a plethora of teas available today, from all corners of the world, and Jungle Jim’s International Market carries an increasingly wide variety from all over. So let’s take a little time this month to talk about tea from all over the world that we offer right here in your own backyard!

​Did you know? Traditional English tea time is 3-6pm. The later it’s serves, the more substantial the food that is offered.

Today we’re going to be talking about tea from Great Britain and South Africa!

PG Tips – PG Tips is one of Britain’s number one lines of tea and was created by Arthur Brooke in 1869 in his coffee shop in Manchester, England. It’s blend of Assam, Ceylon, and Kenyan Teas that is rich and refreshing. PG stands for “Pre – Gest” tea, the tips signify that only the two top tea leaves on each bud are used. PG Tips was one of the first companies to introduce tea bags into the UK market in the 60s.

​Did you know? Loose tea remains good for about two years if you keep it away from light and moisture while tea bags are good for only about six months.

Five Roses – A South African blend of ceylon that is distinctively rich, bold, and luxurious. Ceylon teas are actually named for their origin in the Country of Ceylon which is now Sri Lanka. The “Five Roses” signify the five dedicated tea masters that blend this tea.

Did you know? The best green tea is from the first harvest, which is from late April to early May.​
